The design for the new flagship library for East Central Georgia Regional Library System consists of 3 floors encompassing 95,000 square feet. Located in historic downtown Augusta, Georgia, the exterior fenestration of the structure is designed to coexist with the traditional buildings in the immediate vicinity. The materials include brick in two colors, limestone, and black granite, and aluminum curtainwall. The interior design is intended to keep more active activities at the main circulation desk, children's area and public meeting rooms contained to the top floor with quieter spaces below. The main entrance lobby serves as a focal point for the interior and exterior of the building. |
